The Critter Clinic by B. toys is a flexible, fun, and open-ended toy that has a place in every speech language pathologist’s therapy bag! Featuring six colorful doors, matching keys, and small animal patients, this unique toy provides endless opportunities to target diverse communication goals across multiple age groups and skill levels.
Targeting Core Language Skills
- Vocabulary & Core Words: The toy has many opportunities for using core vocabulary like open, close, in, out, help, and turn. You can also target nouns (animal names, color-coded keys), spatial concepts (top, bottom, beside), and attributes (big, little, same, different).
- Requesting & AAC: Because the doors require specific colored keys to open, children are naturally motivated to request. Some students may communicate by pointing to AAC icons such as "key" or "open," while others may practice expanding mean length utterances such as "red key please" or "want open blue door."
